I am afraid we have not kept up with our spreadsheet and I will do my best to get back on track in the coming weeks.
My cat Lily is on Lantus, 1.5 units twice a day. She was pretty regulated but now her numbers are absolutely all over the place. The morning is generally 250-350 but the evening is sometimes under 100 but sometimes just as high.
The last curve that I did looked like this
219 0 (+food)
289 +4
271 +6
189 +8
121 +11
150 +12
Our regular vet moved away so I talked to the other vet at the same practice. She says that it's not strange to see a lag in the amount of time it took to get a nadir, she isn't fond of Lantus, says that it stays in the system after 12 hours but she couldn't explain why we see an increase in blood glucose. In fact if it continues to work past the 12 hour mark wouldn't we see low values that keep going lower? The vet wants to change the insulin to Caninsulin and insists on doing the curves in house. I don't understand why we are having problems when we weren't before and am hesitant to switch.
We are hoping to see another vet shortly but I was wondering if you guys had any thoughts. I am feeling very overwhelmed and defeated.
