Thomas Tampa Fl reading is now 65 at noon ? NOT EATING

Hi, it has been a while since I have posted on this board or my spreadsheet. Thomas gets 1.25 dose of Lantus. I took his blood at noon and it was 65.
Quick synopsis, Over the past 3 months he has decreased his food intake. He has quit eating for the past 3 days only drinking water. His muscle mass is shrinking. Is this normal to happen to cats down the road? He is 12 and is still getting in my lap and purring. I want to do what I can for him.
Im fine with going to my vet but the vet cannot see him for another week. They want to do a super panel bloodwork at $200. I cannot afford to go to ER. I have no money to pay or credit to be able to do anything so I’m sure they will turn me away. Please any advice would be grateful. Even if it his time to go I just want to make sure I’m doing what I can.

Hi there! I probably can't offer too much advice but wanted to ask a few questions to help others answer.

Has he eaten anything in the past 3 days? Or just reduced amounts?
Have you been giving his usual dose of insulin?
Any other know health conditions he has or other symptoms he is currently showing other than inappetence?

If he has gone that long without eating, its important to get him seen as soon as possible. I would call around to find a vet that could see him ASAP or stressing to your current vet that he really needs to be seen.

I bought his fav treats Temptations to see if he would eat that. He hasn’t had it for 3 years. He ate a few each day and licked gravy from fancy feast, but that is it.

Not eating for days can have pretty significant health effects on cats, unfortunately; I think you're going to need to act fast to try and get some calories into him. (I don't know a ton about this, so perhaps someone with a bit more experience can chime in.)

Here are some tips for stimulating a cat's appetite: Suggestions on How to Stimulate Kitty's Appetite
Here are some resources for syringe feeding, which I think you may want to consider in the short term: Syringe/Assisted Feeding (Videos and Tips)

Is he normally enthusiastic about feeding time? Does he act as though he's hungry when you're getting his food ready, but then look at it (maybe sniff or lick it) and then walk away? That often means nausea. There are a number of medications that can be given to counteract it.

My cat, and several others here including Albert's have pancreatitis, which causes nausea and inappetence, and is pretty common in diabetic cats. The description above is what I saw in mine; he'd seem to want food, but then he wouldn't touch what I gave him. I tried a variety of treats and approaches and nothing worked very well. Ultimately, I got him on two different anti-nausea meds, ondansetron and cerenia, and an appetite stimulant, mirataz (which is topical, rubbed on the inside of the cat's ear), which is how I got him eating properly again.

You may want to add the "?" prefix to your subject line to get more attention on this thread - just go in to edit the top post, and then select the drop-down menu to the left of the title field.

ETA: also I think you should update your title to indicate that Thomas hasn't eaten in three days. That's much more concerning than his BG value, honestly, and may get a faster response.

Are we going as far as his interest in food, he hears the feeder turn and usually runs right to it and he doesn’t seem to care at all.

Sounds like nausea. Can you phone your vet and say it's an emergency? Because this is one. Would they give you meds for him wth seeing Thomas? Or at least sell you some canned Royal Canin Recovery or A/D. Both are OK for diabetics and fairly easy to syringe in. You can use 3ML syringes, or even buy baby or pet feeding syringes at pharmacies or the pet food chains. Do you have any other vets near you that might be able to see him? Him not eating should not go on any longer.

Might be something in here to help you pay for an ER:
