Hey there, as you know I have two diabetic cats (signature below). I also have two pet rabbits and a civvie cat.

Anyway my pet rabbit is sick , she has cataracts that developed suddenly, stiffness in her back legs and when we took her to the vet on Monday it turns out she has lost a ton of weight and has an abdominal mass. All of which appeared since her march checkup.

We ran blood work. Liver and kidney values etc were fine but her blood glucose was high. Now the vet said diabetes in rabbits is rare, and that stress of the vet visit could cause high blood sugar but was still thinking diabetes. So the vet wanted to do a urine check for sugar.

However here is where my forum experience came in handy. I whipped out the urine testing strips and glucometer and did a urine test and an ear prick! The urine was clear. The blood glucose was 97. So we can rule out diabetes! Of course it's back to the drawing board with her now. I am posting on a couple of rabbit forums and we will need to X-ray that limo.

Just wanted to say how handy this forum was to help with this.. If it wasn't for you guys i would probably have never tested and not had the equipment at hand or experience to easily do this! Thanks!
