Thelma's SS - Numbers are going in the wrong direction!

Thelma was diagnosed on Jan 14 this year. We went home from the vet on 1 unit of Vetsulin 2x a day. I took him in last Monday and let the vet do a curve in the office, mostly because I was very new to home testing. We started 1.5 units Monday night. With the vet's approval, we upped his dose to 2 units 2x daily on Saturday (because I would be home to monitor him.) He is eating either 2.75 oz Friskies pate and 3/4 oz. chicken (boneless, skinless thighs cooked in crock pot) or a 3 oz can of Fancy Feast pate and chicken at his 2 meal times. (And he still follows me around with his little hungry eyes anytime I walk in the kitchen) His numbers appear to be going up since we increased the insulin. I faxed his BG numbers (over the last week) in to the vets office this morning and called and left a message with the receptionist for the vet to call me when he looked at Thelma's numbers. I am still waiting for a call back.

Would y'all look at his SS (it's short right now) and offer any advice? I was quite pleased that he was pretty consistently down in the 300's last week and now it seems like we are right back to where he started. I kinda freaked this morning, but I had to go to work. I will check him as soon as I get home and post those numbers as well.

I have always been a "doer" and can handle just about anything. I feel utterly helpless and useless to Thelma right now.

I don't know much about Vetsulin but it can drop BG pretty quick, it might be a good idea to get a +1 test sometime. Also remember that glucometers are allowed 20% variance so your AMPS and +2 aren't that far off today. 451=360~541 and 518=414~621.
Hopefully some more qualified members have some insight:)

You got this! It's a steep learning curve but it all gets easier so fast!
:bighug:

It is possible that the shot was not a good one, but I did feel it go through the skin. PMPS is 348! Is it possible that I got a bad reading this morning? I should have taken it again. :-(
Vet still hasn't returned my call.
I will test him at 1+ tonight and see what I get.
Yes, I forget about the variance and get overwhelmed by the number on the meter. I freaked out because it was so high.
Thank you!
