The 1.25 appears a good place at the moment. Hoping there is enough insulin left from last night that he doesnt spike to the 400's like yesterday.
I have almost tested Kitty 300 times so far not counting double testing.
The price of the strips is starting to add up.

Nice number this am. You can certainly cut back on testing getting maybe +6 and +9. That will give you a good snapshot of what is going on in the cycle.

I wouldn't wait till +6 to test. I'd go for a +3 and +5. He's starting low this a.m. so you are going to have to watch him but until you see him heading too low you could do every 2 hrs.......every hour is truly not needed. Try not to feed him after +6....at the latest +7.

Yes, I think you are right, Hope. I was thinking we could get Sev away from the lancet but today is probably not the best day. He went down after the amps which is not his usual pattern.

But still, not every hour today, Sev.

Sev, did Kitty happen to look out the window last nite and see the full moon? Hope he slows down on the drop but be prepared to test every 1/2 hr. if he continues. He just dropped 105 points nailbite_smile

I generally give the cats a snack at +6.

The only change I made yesterday is that I did not give the Kitty a night time snack to see if his numbers would remain low through the AMPS. Might just be coincidence. I'll see if it repeats tomorrow morning.
I am going to skip the Vets tomorrow if the numbers are high and reschedule for later in the week. at hopefully +5. They close for lunch at noon. So that would leave +7 as the next best time.

Glad Hope contradicted me, Sev.

Looks like an interesting day shaping up.

You have some gravy food?

I thick 12 cans of Friskies is still in the trunk of the car.

I can't stand this.....please test him now.

Now now.
We are right on schedule.
Kitty just wandered in from sunning himself on the deck.

By the way I noticed last night that Kitty's tail is not as boney as it was right after the weight loss. Seems to be putting a little meat back on his bones.

And we have +3 @ 65. Hmmm.

Sev, he just dropped 50 points in the last hr. He cannot afford another 50 drop. Did you feed him some food yet? Insulin hasn't reached peak yet so he won't shoot up as much but it should help slow the drop. There are times when insulin is working too well and nothing keeps them up and out of the danger zone except to get to a vet and IV glucose. He still has a few hrs. to go and now is the time to interfere and give some food. None of us really want our cats down in the 30's or 40's because some cats cannot tolerate even those levels. FWIW, once a cat starts hypoing with symptoms there is not a 100% guarantee you can stop it even with a vet treating. A cat may survive a bad hypo but some survive with blindness or brain damage, etc. Today's numbers and rate of drop are not to be taken lightly. Geez, I wish I drank.....I'd go have a full glass right now nailbite_smile

He is feeding on a combination of FreshPet and Merrick.
He seems fine so far. I'll test him in another 15 minutes.

Sure glad I have not had him on 2 units as the vet suggested.

Ok he is slowing down. He is at 49 though.
He ate twice.
I am watching him.

I am glad to see you on Health, Sev. Both Hope and I have to leave the board this morning so you should post over there. We've contacted Carl and hopefully he is around.

You know how to do this. You've done it before. Higher carb food at 40, monitor every 15-20 minutes. Karo syrup if it drops lower. If you get nervous, put a 911 on the thread. Any doubt - trip to the ER.

No prob. Thank you.
Thank you. About to check him now.

Hi Sev
Let's stick with one thread for now, ok? The one in Health would be best....more eyes.
Carl

OK.
We got through the day.
PMPS was 428. About 5 point lower than last night. Perhaps he will stay out of the black.

Rats,
I was hoping for lower. But yes, good day for Kitty.

Carl

I am thinking the multiple feedings earlier may have done it.
I did skip the usual snack later on.
