All,
The cold that we thought proceeded Jack's hypo last week may not have been a cold at all.
(To recap: he had a runny nose, sneezing, wheezing, etc. Apparently he stopped eating but his sister picked up the extra food so I didn't notice the difference. End result is that he spent 3 days in the hospital and came home with a feeding tube)
On Tuesday he started snoring like a trucker. I've had bulldogs that were quieter. I mentioned it to the vet during the regular tube check visit but neither one of us thought much of it. Yesterday I noticed a...something... in his left nostril. I tried to get it out, thinking it was congealed snot but it wouldn't budge. And what kind of crazy world is it when picking my cat's nose is normal? ;-)
I noticed it in that magical time of the evening - after the vet was closed but with hours of Google time before bed. What I found online wasn't pretty. He has many of the symptoms of nasal lymphoma. Discharge from one nostril and the corresponding eye - check. Loss of appetite - check. Growth in the nose - check.
This morning I took him back to the vet and she was very concerned. They took a biopsy but the results won't be in for 3-5 business days. And so we wait, biting our nails. This poor cat - what else can go wrong?
I've posted a picture in hopes that someone has had similar issues and is familar with the symptoms. Could the diabetes be a symptom of a more systemic issue like lymphoma? Any thoughts?
As always, thank you.
Natalie & Jack
P.S. Jack would like to point out that this is not the most attractive picture of him, even though it gives the most accurate view of the relevant area.
