This is a reintroduction. I first visited this site many years ago in a panic when my cat, Boucle, was first diagnosed. Thanks to the wonderful people of this site, I gained knowledge about low carb diets, glucometers, etc., etc.... The info. was new to my vet, and he was willing to try the new method (low carb, not high carb diet, checking levels and adjusting insulin). So, despite my fear and squeamish nature, I learned to check Boo's levels, and he was eventually able to go off insulin completely. He died last Saturday at the age of 21---years and years after his diagnosis. He had a wonderful life.....I KNOW that the quality of his life and his longevity are due to the knowledge and generosity of the people on this site. If you are a newbie, I hope you can gain hope from Boucle's story. It WILL get easier...You WILL get stronger, too....Peace, Love, and Prayers for the diabetic cats and the people who love them!
