Dr. Rand sent a thank you message to the FDMB, which I will pass along below. As many of you have read in the FDMB announcements section (at the top of this page), Dr. Rand is urgently seeking donations for the purchase of 6 to 10 continuous glucose monitors @ $3,000 per instrument --so she and her team at the Queensland University in Australia can expand upon their research into feline diabetes. If each of us who have benefited from Dr. Rand’s research would donate, even as little as $10, that would go a long way to helping her reach this goal. Thanks!!

“We are very, very grateful for your support of our work. The glargine and detemir research is largely supported by donations from pet owners, who like you, care about making a difference. Your support, and that of the Feline Diabetes Message Board group, will help provide us with more information on how to help (diabetic) cats. We urgently need to purchase continuous glucose meters so we can determine if some of the cats are going into a very low range of blood glucose, or if some of the early morning high blood glucose readings are the result of too short a duration of action of the insulin coupled with a growth hormone surge.”
