Testing on the paw instead of the ear?

Does it matter, or effect the testing results? We can never get a sufficient amount of blood from the ear, and kitty doesn't seem to mind the paw. But just curious that the numbers would be the same. You never hear about people testing on the paw.

Thanks!

There are a few folks who do, but you're right - most test on the ear.

If it works for you, the only caution is to make sure the area poked is clean first, and has completely stopped bleeding before releaseing the cat after testing (to reduce contaimination possibilities)

And if you do want to try the ear again, know that you can directly target the small vein. If so, be prepared to test quickly and blot firmly to reduce bruising ... and to reduce blood flicks all over you!

I would not test on the paw because the cat walks around and can get dirt in the test spots and then going in the litter box would not be great either.... stick to the ear... the ears learn to bleed.

I test in the paw and have been doing for nearly 6 years. Never had problems with infections since I take care of that.
