Hello everyone,

I currently have an Accu-Chek Compact Plus and I was wondering if anyone knew where I could find some test strips online in Canada? 90$ for 102 test strips is a little tough for me, especially since we need to test our kitties so often. :YMSIGH:

Unfortunately, Hocks doesn't ship to Canada. Are you near a Costco? They tend to have the best prices.

I used to get my things at Shoppers because their points program translates to cash, so I was able to get a free order every now and then.

That would be so great! But Amazon.com won't ship to Canada; we have to order from Amazon.ca and it doesn't sell anything related to health care.

BUMP. There has got to be a better answer for Canada. I suspect Gayle and Shadoe tests a lot, with two acro cats. Maybe PM her.

I thought there perhaps were Walmarts in CA, and you could get the Relion meters and strips there?

I have found that both insulin and strips are least expensive at Costco. I don't use the specific metre that she does, but everything else I've checked is less at Costco.

Lots and lots of WalMarts (2 in my small city alone!)but most don't sell the ReliOn because the brand name meters are so cheap here. Too bad the strips aren't!

Costco, Shoppers/PharmaPrix point system, or eBay are your best bets.

Oh - you could contact your local branch of the Cdn Diabetes Assoc and see if they can help!

You can order some stuff from amazon.com to Canada, you just have to go through the whole check out process to see if the shipper will ship to Canada. When my kitty first got diagnosed I was paying a bundle to get needles from the vet, the needles were costing more then the insulin, and I ordered 2 boxes of needles from amazon.com. My only difficulty was they got stopped at the border, and the box was labelled "dog medicine" and they were curious as to what type of medicine it was, and once I clarified what I was importing, all was well.

I got a Bayer Contour meter. It came free when I bought the test strips, and they were about $60 for 100. I've been getting everything at Pharmasave, from our very kind pharmacist. I know you don't have Pharmasave in Quebec (I'm in BC), but maybe Pharmaprix would have the same price. If the strips are cheaper it might be worth changing brands.

Good luck!

Myriam
