Is there a trick to gettin air bubbles out? Seems llike I always home one near the top even when I have the syringe full. It's like air gets stuck around the edge. Is this an optical illusion or am I doing something wrong?

It's quite frustrating. I flick the darn thing and the tiny bubbles rise but then Ihave this one section.

These tips may help.

1) before using the syringe, move the plunger in and out. this will distribute the lubricant
2) With the pen rubber side down, push the plunger all the way into the syringe firmly and hold it there while inserting the syringe needle into the pen. (Needle will be pointling up)
3) Release the plunger and slowly draw in the insulin
4) remove from the pen
5) inject

I do that but I still seem to get this spot on the outside edge that appears to be a bubble and it will not go to the center so iI can push it out the needle unless I uses almost an extra unit of insulin. I am using g a big vial of last tus not pens.

Hi,
I use the same syringes and also the vial. I don't know if it's the correct thing to do but if i'm going to draw out 1 unit of insulin, i inject a little more than 1 unit of air. It seems to have helped with those darn bubbles.

I didn't have the trouble with air bubbles using the Relion syringes, but I do with the Terumos. It's infuriating! Flick, flick, flick...still looks like there's a bubble. Overall tho, i like the Terumos.

With a vial, you inject at least as much air as the insulin you want to withdraw to build up a smidge of pressure. It makes withdrawing the insulin easier. Pens have a pressure mechanism so you don't need to do that.

I have done both. Injected air and not injected air. When I inject air there is usually a tiny air bubble at the top of the needle that I can't seem to get rid of. So I suck it up...but then a couple of times by the time I get that stupid thing out that looks like a bubble to me....I have to draw more insulin and start over. It's weird. I do Not have this problem with the syringes I got from Costco but they don't have the 1/2 unit markings :(

the advantage of the terumo's is they don't have the unaccounted for space in the hub....they are more accurate than any of them.

I used these too....
and from Marje telling me with bubbles

push the plunger down tightly before putting needle in vial ( help start the vacuum)
draw the insulin in very very slowly.... ( everything takes patience in this sugardance ohmygod_smile )

the slowness helps keep as many bubbles forming but there is usually still something to try to flick out....
it helps to twist the plunger a little to dislodge the one you are talking about... ( the one on the side that sticks)

when I slowed down and did it her way, I did have less bubbles....
