Hello all, i'm sorry i've checked out a little bit in the last couple of weeks. I just sat down to put all of my numbers in since the 16th and Baby's numbers are terrible!! There were a couple of days in there where I forgot to give the second dose of the day until an hour or two after i was supposed to give it (i have set my phone alarm, that won't happen again) but it hasn't been in the last few days, and her numbers are consistently terrible.

I really don't like the relion syringes that i bought because it's hard to be really accurate with them. That being said, I can't afford to buy new ones right now in any way. I am trying really hard to give her 1.25 consistently.

Also, the cost of her food is getting way out of hand, and she's eating a lot more than she used to. I"m actually limiting her to 4 cans of fancy feast a day. she would have 5 or 6 if i let her. I can't afford to feed her that much. She won't eat anything but fancy feast. will not touch the special kitty food.

Hi Sarah, are you still doing split dosing according to the schedule Vicky set up for you a while back? I am sorry, I can't tell from your SS or your notes if that is the case. I think you said at one time that if you were giving 1.25 units then you were shooting at +12?

I know from before that it was hard for you to get mid-cycle tests because of your work schedule. Is that still the case? Because as you know it would help paint a better picture as to how this 1.25 dose is working.

It is good that she is eating better! Because of that it would be easy to suggest a slight increase in the dose, but without some spot checks........:(

I know it is hard. If you are still doing split dosing hopefully Vicky will be by later to give you some suggestions on your shot schedule.

Have you considered any foods from Petco or a specialty pet food store? I know they seem pricey, but some brands have better ingredients than Fancy Feast and per ounce, Fancy Feast is MORE expensive than some of them! Brands such as Wellness, Nature's Variety, EVO. You shouldn't try to switch foods cold turkey, most cats will turn their nose up at different foods, but if you mix the new food with the old food and gradually decrease the old food overtime, they can adjust. It also keeps them from having upset tummies during a food switch.

As for the spreadsheet, Pamela's right, without mid cycle numbers, it's hard to say which way the dose should go. My money's on an increase, but those mid-cycle tests are important to make that determination.

One thing you might try to help you with the syringes is get a note card, find a syringe which you think has the markings in the right place, then mark on the card where 1U is, 1.25U, 1.5U, etc. Use a fine point pen. Then if you get a syringe which has the zero mark further down on the barrel (yeah, the GNP syringes are like that sometimes) you just hold the card against it and push out tiny drops of insulin until you get the plunger lined up with that mark on the card. Have marked where the barrel starts also, that's the zero line, so you get the card lined up right.

Hope that helps. I'm sorry I haven't checked in on you. I don't badger people who don't post. I figure if someone needs help, they'll ask, and you did!

I am planning on doing a curve tomorrow.

I don't have any specialty pet stores in my area except one that is really expensive and they only sell EVO. I am looking online to find out if it's feasible to order some online.

I have been keeping my dosing at +12 and +12 pretty consistently except for the times when i forgot to give them. What advice do you all have for when I forget to give a dose for a couple hours? How much should i give? When i do that, I give less at the proper time... like if i give dose at +13, i will give 1u at +11 to get her back on schedule.

I will try your trick with the index card. lol now i just gotta fish a syringe out of the sharps container!

Thanks for your help, I will get you more information soon.
