I got my baby, Lupin diagnosed with diabetes about three weeks ago and been on ProZinc for last two weeks (2 units twice a day). I've been gone for 4 days out of state and my mom was taking care of Lupin. Today I noticed that he is not eating well and have some water stuck to his chin. When I tried to touch it, he showed that it hurt. His lower jaw is all swollen and puffy.
I rushed him to the vet and got tested for ketons. Thank god it was not present, but now he is all dehydrated and constipated and having teeth problems. He was just fine 4 days ago and was actually gaining weight, but now there is something wrong with his teeth. I have x-ray scheduled for tomorrow and he is staying overnight at the vet. Just wanted to see if this sounds familiar to anybody else or I am just that "lucky".

A hidden infection may have become an abscess.
Are you home testing? If so, you may also notice that his BG levels are higher because of the infection. If you are not testing, I recommend that you start. Once the infection is cleared up and he is no longer having pain from the abscess, his insulin needs may lower. You do not want to risk giving too much insulin and causing hypoglycemia.
