I do not know how to read Teasel's SS, but he has a whole lot of blue's and green's. Buddy has none, but at least it is mostly yellow. About the time I decided to raise Buddy's dose something happens that makes me afraid to raise it.
 
Kris, you were asking about my experience with the Freestyle Lite meter. I am using the Freestyle Freedom Lite and am happy with it but I can't lie. I still think "she's not THAT low" at every reading given my long sojourn with the AT2 and the AT2 strips. It's definitely a different mind set. Do you have the Freestyle Lite or the Freestyle Freedom Lite? I liked my Freestyle Lite for doing comparison testing but it drove me nuts with the smaller screen and lack of a beep I could hear when testing. By the time I decided to go with the Freestyle Freedom Lite, it was no longer available here in Canada. Thankfully, Carol & Murphy came to my rescue and sent me a US FS Freedom Lite meter. It's identical to the AT2 with the larger body, screen and the same beep as the AT2 and having gone through nursing training before we switched to metric here (yes I am that old!:woot:), I was a very happy camper.

If you have the Freestyle Freedom Lite, then I think you will be happy. If it's the Freestyle Lite, you may or not like it given the body and screen size is so much smaller. Readings tend to be about the same between the 2 Freestyle meters. To be honest, I'd switch back to my AT2 meter in a heartbeat if not for the horrendous price of the strips. For those of us who choose to test no less than 4 to 6 times a day and sometimes more, it has become ridiculously expensive to use the AT2 meter here. The FS Lite strips are expensive enough and while I don't tend to spare any expense for my kitties, I decided the extra savings are better saved to deal with any other medical conditions that may crop up for my furkids.

Thanks for this, Linda. Mine is a regular Freestyle Lite, not a Freedom Lite. I know what you mean about the small screen and nearly inaudible beep but I think I'll get used to it. I'm glad to know the readings will be similar to the Freedom Lite but, like you, they'll feel "fake" because of my long experience with the AT meter. I might do the occasional curve with the AT meter just for a fun exercise. ;) There's no way I can test as much as I do and pay for AT strips. I do take advantage of the 20% seniors' day discount at Shoppers when I buy the FS strips and I rack up Optimum points while I do. Periodically, I can get strips nearly free by cashing in points.

BTW - I'm old enough to remember Canada's conversion to the metric system but I was a science geek at university and taught science so I've always been very comfortable with those units. :smuggrin:
 
Hi! Just stopping in to see how you are doing. By the way, I was really interested to read about the meters above. I really wish the moderators here would create an entirely dedicated thread to meters. When I was trying to figure out what to do, I found information here and there but not in one place easily.

Kris you haven't gone back to Prozinc? You're just here as before it because it's your hang out right?

Correct, Lois. Teasel is on Lantus and doing better on it. I continue to regard myself as a member of the ProZinc Club and rent space here. These are my peeps! ;)

The meter switch was a "thing" for me but keeping up with the cost of AT strips was going to be an issue. I had a lot stockpiled and once that supply got low-ish I decided to switch to a human meter.
