I took Sam to another vet for a second opinion (in the two years he's been diabetic he's never been close to being regulated) and I really liked the new vet. She seemed very knowledgeable and a good listener and didn't chastise me once for having done so much of my own research. She really liked that I could bring numbers in with me and was doing home blood testing. While we were there, we found out that Sam has really chunked up. I knew he'd put weight on, but I really had no idea how much. He needs to lose about 3.5 pounds, so she suggested 1. reduced feedings and taking the food up after 20 mins (hard to do in a 4 cat household where they're all a little special needs but we're working on it) and 2. starting Sam on the Hills W/D. I know from what I was able to search out on this board that no one here likes it, but I'd like to know why with reputable evidence behind the reason. Something I could print out and take in would be great. I've tried one can and Sam really liked it, something that hasn't happened with any of the other high end foods we've tried.
