TAKEN BY SURPRISE

CORKY

Very Active Member
Since Corky was diagnosed, my care for him has been at too over the top. Yesterday was a very odd evening, I noticed that after "PMPS" his BG went higher than usual, not until before going to bed that I opened the fridge to drink water before going to sleep that I saw the PMPS syringe ready for use, ful,l by the insulin vial
I MISSED HIS SHOT!!!!!----------
I was devastated, I tested him one last time @+5 his BG was 126, so of course I had a horrible night sleep, just knowing that his BG was going to be in the 200's if not higher. I was terrified. Yet on AMPS , his BG was 114, I began to cry from so much relief and happiness!

But What just happened??????? are Corky's pancreas out of pure chance beginning to produce insulin???
I actually expected the worse this morning!!

Oh… I hope you don’t draw the insulin and leave it in the syringe for too long (you mentioned seeing the filled syringe in the fridge.)

Yes Corky is my Gold Medalist of Diabetic Cats!! I fill the syringe about 1 hour before the shot and keep it in the fridge for PMPS, for the AMPS I fill syringe just before shot! this has been my routine since the beginning, that's how I realized I did not shoot last night because it was still in the fridge around 10:30PM last night, of course I trashed it! I really expected to see BG's this morning up to the high 200's , I was amazed:bighug::bighug::D:D:cat::cat:
