Ive noticed at times when i take out a fresh syringe they dont always line up evenly with the first mark,So does this mean she isnt getting her full 2 units or is she still getting 2 units??? thx

The accuracy of the markings on any given syringe is subject to variation. I've had syringes that were off by up to a half-unit in either direction.

The key to good insulin regulation is consistency in dosing. One way to get that is to choose a single syringe, set it aside, and make it your reference syringe.

You can then use the reference syringe to calibrate a measuring device like calipers or an insulin ruler, which you can then use as a guide to show you how much insulin to draw for each new needle.

With practice, the result will be consistent, uniform doses every time, no matter where the markings are on the barrel, provided you stick with the same size, type, and brand of needle.

I keep it consistent by measuring up the dose in a good syringe using coloured water (some people use cold tea) and then using that sample syringe to compare to each dose that I draw.
