Hi everyone, and, of course, all you precious furries,

Old to the old board, and new to this one.

My question is this:

Nikki gets 2 units Levemir in a 3cc/u100 syringe. We have gratefully received a box of 1cc/u100 syringes that we can't really afford to waste. So, I'm thinking she'll get 6 units in the 1cc/u100 syringe, right?

Okay, it gets more complicated the 1cc/u100 syringes are divided into fifths. So, would she be getting 5-1/4, 5-1/3, a heavy 5 units?

Blonde hugs and I cannot even begin to tell you how friggin hard it was to get in here kind of hugs,
Deb (currently with a migraine, probably from math) and Giz, forever whispering in my heart and who finally sent me Nikki!

PS: I lost the conversion link. Sigh...

PPS: For those who know us, still blonde...

No and No :o

There is NO conversion to do. U100 insulin syringes are U100, regardless of the capacity (30 unit, 50 unit, or100 unit).

2 units of Levemir in a 30 unit U100 insulin syringe is 2 units on a 100 unit (1 cc) U100 insulin syringe.

See this picture of a 100 unit (1 cc) U100 insulin syringe:

Please note that **each line marking equals 2 units**. So, starting at the top of the picture, it is 0 (the long line), 2 (short line), 4 (short line), 6 (short line), 8 (short line), 10 (slightly longer than short line and bolded), etc.

In a u100 syringe, a unit is a unit is a unit. It does not matter the total capacity of the syringe, 1 cc vs 3/10cc, the TOTAL UNITS are the measurement that you go by. If she receives 2 units of Lev in a 3/100cc syringe - she will receive 2 units of Lev in a 1cc syringe.

See the picture about the middle of the page here comparing various insulin syringes:

If your 100 unit syringes have markings every 2 units, (and most do), she would receive insulin equivalent to 1 marks.

screw the conversion question.....

how the heck are you???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Jen (&N&C&J and fuzzies)

Hanging in on a wing, prayer, and fussy paw pat, dearest Jen!

Much love and countless hugs for you and that glorious family of yours,
Deb, Nik, and Giz -- apparently still orchestrating everything...

PS: So sorry for the math issues...

DEB!!!! Too long, girlfriend, too long!!! You're missing some fascinating Astrophe drama by being incognito, you know! You know where to find me ... :-D

(The only time you need that math is if you get some U40 syringes from a vet- the kind for Vetsulin. Other than that, the only syringes you will get are U100 ones, and they just differ by how much they hold.)

(((Hello-and-how-the-hell-are-ya Hugs)))

Hello to you friend.........long, long time and so good to see your name on a post again. Hope all is well with you and Nikki and always remembering Giz(GA).

(((((((((((((((((DEB))))))))))))))))))))))

Dearest Karen, Gia, Hope, and Lisa,

Thank you so much for your kind responses. Sorry for being incognito and awol. Life happens...

Although I haven't been around much, I still think of you all a lot! And, have missed you even more...

Much love and countless grateful hugs for the wonders you all are,
Deb and the quirky joy that is Nikki, sent by my darling Giz, no doubt smiling from The Bridge at the mayhem...

PS: Need to figure out how this new board actually works...

Deb Deb Deb...
Layla and I think of you all the time - and of course, today - because we never would've made it if you didn't get us through Memorial Day 2005...

Hugs!

Pammy, Pammy, Pammy, and of course, the sheer furry wonder that is Layla,

Has it really been five years?!?! Gosh, I remember it like it was yesterday... Kudos to you, dearest girl, and to your wondrous furry fighter! And, of course, kudos to the furry Greek chorus of one, charming Lyric, who has witnessed it all...

I miss my Texas girls!

Much love and we'll chat one of these days/nights kind of hugs,
Deb, Nik, and Giz, smiling from The Bridge at the chaos she has wrought here on earth...

PS: I'm 9 to 5 now, so we'll have to start early-ish...
