Syringe Brands on Hocks website

Can anyone tell me which brand of Insulin Syringes they prefer on the Hock's website? Are all the needles considered Ultra Fine or is that only the BD brand? I want to make sure she gets a fine needle so it causes the least amount of pain.

I see many different brands in packages of 100. I use 3/10ML cc, 8mm (5/16"), 31G needles.

Also, what is the marking that I must look for? Is it a 1/2 unit marking or a 1 unit marking. My Suzie is getting 3 units of Lantus 2x a day.

Thanks! :)

Ultrafine usually means 30 or 31 gauge gauge needles, which are really thin. IMO, most cats don't feel the quick prick of the insulin syringe needle. I've used 29 gauge, which some people consider thick, but my cat never noticed it.

BD Ultrafine is a good brand but very expensive. You can get much cheaper but just as good quality insulin syringes. Here's an old thread with brands of U100 insulin syringes members use: http://www.felinediabetes.com/phorum5/read.php?8,1959122,1959486

You want half unit markings. The product description should clearly state "half unit markings" or "1/2 unit markings".

All 3/10 cc and 1/2 cc insulin insulin syringes have markings for every 1 unit. Some brands of 3/10 cc insulin syringes are also available with half unit markings.

Another place to buy insulin syringes from, if you live in the US, is http://www.americandiabeteswholesale.com
