Helping my sisters’s friend. Diabetic foster cat on 3.5 units of Vetsulin 2x/day. Was able to get her (and the rescue that manages the medication) to switch to Prozinc, but concerned about the vet’s recommendation to start at 3.5 units. Cat weighs less than ten pounds, and isn’t terribly interested in food, though he does eat, sometimes his bonded partner eats more. Feeding Royal Canin Glycobalance. Will try to switch out for a lower carb (and less expensive!) option soon.
Any resources avbl to help with this transition?

Generally when switching it is often the same or similar dose - if you have the data to show how the cat is doing at the current dose on the current insulin.

Unfortunately without a spreadsheet or more information on health history, etc I can't really make any recommendation. 3.5U Vetsulin is on the higher side, but with the glycobalance in the picture not completely unreasonable. If switching diet, home testing will be critical.

Move over to the Prozinc forum and you'll get a lot more help. Good for the cat, Prozinc wasn't approved in Canada when I started out. It was Vetsulin or nothing, what a mess.

Hiya, hope transition goes well. We have Pilchard on Caninsulin, vet reluctant to switch as says there can be supply issues here.
