im switching Apache from vetsulin to lantus. can someone guide me through this process. ill be getting the insulin this afternoon and her shot is at 7pmPT. im sure some of my angels will read the post. IM READY !!

Just a reminder when you do start the lantus you will need to add that to your signature ,you can just put started Lantus and the date
Same thing with your spreadsheet where you have Vetsulin up top you can just put Lantus and the date and put a blank line above the date you start it and just write started Lantus PM Cycle and highlight it :cat:

Here is the link on how to post on the lantus forum
https://felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/posting-guidelines-please-read.231511/
and the 2 dosing methods to see which one you would like to follow, each one will tell you when an increase or decrease is needed

Whenever you decide you can add that to your signature and spreadsheet up top where it asks you

Here is your latest post on Feline Health so people can get the background. https://felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/insulin.274913/

Looks like you were heading out to get the U-100 syringes with 1/2 unit markings. Once you have them, let us know. I think you should start at about 1.5 units of Lantus. We take into consideration how the previous insulin was doing, and 2 units was taking him too low. We do suggest that you be able to monitor closely the first couple cycles after the switch, with testing several times during those cycles. Some cats react strongly to the switch. So keep that in mind when planning when to switch. Any make sure to have your high carb food stocked, just in cased. It could also be a non event.

she just hit 95 with 1.75 !!!

Another reason to drop it down to 1.5 units to start. Plus it's easier to measure to start on the line.

Is Apache eating fine today? I'd put down a tsp or two of regular low carb foods to see if she'll even out now.

she eating and doing fine. had 3/4 can (3oz)at amps and a quarter split up in two +2 and +4 . test taken at +5 which is usually her nadir.

im gonna grab a bite to eat. i have Apaches shot at 7pm PST. i will be back at 6pm. i hope there are a few members around to guide me through the syringe filling process / shot/ regulation . ill give a shout in a while.
thank you..angels on my shoulder
