My cat has been using Lantus for about 4 months. He recently started throwing up. He gets alot better when I skip a couple of doses of Lantus(lower sugar level from no food). Because of this, my vet agreed to try PZI. His vile comes in Saturday.

I'm pretty nervous about this. Any thoughts? Anyone switched from Lantus and had improvements?

Unfortunately, this fits under the ECID thing - every cat is different. The best insulin is the one that works for your cat. The advantage of PZI is that it is flexible and can be dosed several different ways.

Are you getting BCP PZI or ProZinc? They are dosed the same and very similar. BCP can come in U100 or U40 strengths.

We put together a protocol for ProZinc. It's in my signature in blue.

Can we put together a spreadsheet for you? It's a great tool for you, your vet and us, when you want dose advice. Here are the directions

If you want help, click on my kitty's picture and send me a private conversation.

Let us know when you are starting and what dose.
