SUMO'S new numbers

Hi, I was hoping you could take a look at Sumo's SS. I'll give you a brief review. Sumo was on .8 Pro Zinc for 7 days with many mid 300's readings. I asked for help on dosing, and it was suggested to lower to .6, which I did. He was on that dose for 2 days with no change, so it was suggested I increase back to .8 As of today, he has been on .8 for 5 days with lowest reading at 193 and all others considerably higher. I am thinking he needs a dose adjustment. Today is his 5 wk anniversary since being diagnosed. As always, your suggestions are very much appreciated.

It's spreadsheets like Sumo's that make me wish we had a manual...

He took a long time to settle in at .8 but gave some decent nadirs, just not consistently. The change to .6 didn't do much though you didn't hold it long.

I wonder what a fat .8 or .9 would do....what do you think?

I think that's what I would like to try. I have already given Sumo his evening dose of .8 but I will check in again before his AM dose to see if anyone has any other other suggestions.
Thanks A Lot, Mary

Hi Mary,

The curve the other day looks inverse to me too, suggesting too much insulin. Some of the other cycles are a little confusing.

Let's see what happens with the .9u today, if you can get a few mid cycle tests in that would be great and would let us know what direction to go from here.

I know you tried .6u but only gave it 2 days. If you get another inverse curve today you should go back down to .6u or possibly less.

Keep us posted on Sumo's numbers today if you can.

On the pm cycle on the 17th sumo did well, then he bounced for a couple cycles I think....I also think he did ok on the .6, but you may have tried it for a couple more days to be sure. If you see a good drop on today's dose, he'll probably bounce again. But you'll need to stay with it for 2-3 cycles to see if the bounce clears. If it does, but you then see inverse curves, then it is too high. At that point, I would reduce to .5
