Sumo's Constipated

Is anyone familiar with Guar Gum for feline constipation. I was reading on the DCIN site about homemade raw diets and it was mentioned that these diets can sometimes be constipating. Guar Gum was suggested for relief, 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon on food. Has anyone had success with this? Sumo turns his nose up at food that has miralax in it.
Thanks, Mary

I don't know anything about guar gum.

Are you adding any extra water to his food? Some folks have found than an extra tablespoon of water may help.

Psyllium (unflavored) has been used for its fiber content to help keep moisture in the feces; roughly 1/4 teaspoon in a meal. Only use this if you are certain he doesn't have any obstruction!

Canned pumpkin also helps w/both hairballs and constipation, and I believe is safe for diabetic cats. 1 tsp mixed in w/food, although my kitties love the taste of it so much, they always act like it's a treat when they get it & I don't have to mix it in. My civvie, Mo, was constipated earlier this week...it's funny how excited I got when she finally pooped!

I will try both suggestions, thanks. I too get excited when my constipated kitty poops!! What a relief for both of us :-))
