Hello everyone,

I am Wiggle Worm's mom. I have 4 oyther cats that share our home with us. I currently free feed them all with Hill's Science Diet for Sensitive Stomach and Wilderness dry food. I want to continued feeding them dry food but I need suggestions of what to feed them. I believe the Wilderness is probably okay, but some people have suggested that Science diet is very high in carbs. I have to go to Petsmart today for food and need suggestions of new dry food to buy

Hi WiggleWorm's Mamabean -- I'm not sure if you've already gone to the store or not, but the next highest in carb. dry food is the Wellness Core Fish & Fowl dry which is 11% Kcal from carbs. I use that for my Harley sometimes. FWIW I have no experience with the EVO personally but have read different opinions on whether or not it is truly only 8% in Kcal from carbs. Although we strive to find the best food possible to treat the FD, what really matters is finding a food your brood will eat.

Next up from there (barring any new ones, my mental info is a couple years old) are the diabetes prescription ones - m/d and DM. I think they clock in around 12 or 13%.

Make sure to keep a close eye on the #s if you switch foods. I don't know if a dose reduction is in order since the carbs are still on the higher side and I don't have your SS open, but just be aware if the carb change is significant the #s may improve quite a bit, so be cautious when dosing during any food transition.

I also saw some grain-free dry at Petco a few months ago - I don't recall the brand, but I remember thinking it looked like potentially lower carb than most dry. The bag was solid color and metallic-y looking, silver I think, and a brand I hadn't noticed in the past.
