We need more info to help. I think your cat is on 3 units of ProZinc, right? When was the 344. - how many hours after the shot? It is important that you get numbers before every shot and then a number 5-7 hours later to see how low the insulin takes him.

Could I help you set up a spreadsheet so we could see what numbers you have gotten and when? Look at the top right hand of this page and click on the private conversation, if you want help getting a spreadsheet set up?

He is on three units prozinc in morning and four at night this was taken 7 hours after his shot

I looked over your previous posts. I don't think we know what food he is eating? Wet low carb can definitely reduce levels.

It is hard to help without some readings - before food and the shot tests help us. This tests is just one number in isolation; we need more data to fill in the puzzle.

If we could get a spreadsheet set up, and you could get some data to help us figure out his patterns, we could be more helpful.

He eats sensitive stomach dry food science diet and hills Id chicken wet food. He won't eat only wet food. What reads do your cats usually after eating

Science Diet is really high in carbs - in the 30-40+ % range. The Hills ID is 23%. We suggest 8-10%. You might check out this website by a vet for some ideas on transitioning cats from dry to wet (www.catinfo.org). And her food chart to find lower carb foods (http://www.catinfo.org/docs/FoodChartPublic9-22-12.pdf )

If you have to feed some dry, you could try one of the lower carb varieties.

Changing the diet alone can make a huge difference in the levels - our cat dropped 100 points overnight when we switched from Science Diet dry to Fancy Feast wet.

My diabetic kitty died of heart disease but I still play it forward here for help I received then. But in general, we consider a cat regulated if they are in the mid 200s at preshots and in double digits at their lowest point, but above 50 on a human meter and 68 on a pet meter (those numbers are approaching hypo range)

His was 344 on the human meter what is that for a pet

It doesn't matter. You just deal with the meter you are using. 344 is not a super high number, but it isn't low either. We think the renal threshold (the range where the pancreas can heal) is somewhere in the 180-250 range , so your number is above that.

If I were you, I'd work on getting him on a wet low carb diet, get preshots before shooting and a nadir (5-7 hours after the shot) whenever you can, and put your data in a spreadsheet.

I don't know. I have never used dry after the Science diet. One thing that might be "like" dry but be low carb is Stella and Chewy's raw. It is like a freeze dried consistency that some cats like. There are many tips for transitioning him: crush the dry into tiny particles and dress the wet, put Parmesan cheese on the wet, sprinkle the wet with FortiFlora (a probiotic that has the animal digest of dry that they love so much)

You might start a new thread asking for low carb dry food suggestions. I know there are a few.
