I thought I recalled that someone said you could use different (cheaper) strips for the alphatrak 2 meters. correct?? if so, which ones?

I just realized I could buy the entire starter kit with 50 test strips and lancets for cheaper than I can just buy the strips alone. what's the deal with that??? I found a website Jet.com that you can get the entire kit for $44. sounds kind of odd but I might just buy the whole kit and get the lancets too. don't know what I would do with all the extra meters, but.... just stinks that they can gauge you like that for the strips. why are the alphatrak strips so expensive. Just called my vet's office and they have them for $65. that is outrageous. :(

thanks everybody for the info.

Kit only comes with 25 test strips and 30 lancets. So if you break it down, 25 strips = about $25 + 30 lancets = about $6.50 + control solution = about $9, leaving about $10 for the meter itself. Since they're bundled, it's a minimum discount, roughly.

Priced as they are probably because they're "specialty" items made specifically for cats and dogs. Not too much competition for now :(

no competition, AND the fact that us caring pet owners get taken advantage of because they know we will spend for our beloved pets...
I guess I didn't realize that there were only 25 strips. so that does not make it as good a deal, plus I don't need the solution, or the case, etc. Does anyone use Pet Test meter. I saw their strips are pretty cheap.
