Stress-Induced Diabetes

Our kitty, Jett, was diagnosed with diabetes this week and I have been wondering how his BG could skyrocket so quickly. Does anyone have experience with stress induced diabetes? My husband was diagnosed with terminal cancer in May and our household has been very sad and disengaged. I do wonder if the diabetes could be stress related and if that would change anything in terms of treatment.

Stress can elevate BGs and thus maybe it can cause diabetes. The only concern would be if the stress diminishes or go away BG may return to normal. The problem is that if you are giving insulin and not home testing BGs the BG may go too low.
