Stray cat with diabetes & FIV

I have taken in a stray with diabetes. Named him Mello and he has been receiving 2 units of Prozinc twice a day for 3 days. Just learned how to test blood and using a One Touch Ultra 2 made first test which recorded blood sugar at 546. Too much of the information from Vet disagrees with what I am reading on this forum. Put a call into Vet's office with information and waiting for call back. Would raising the Prozinc units to 3 or 4 units be advisable? Cat seems very tired but drinks lots of water. Thanks you.
 
It all depends upon how long after the the shot the BG was taken and what the BG was when the shot is given.
The dose is based on the lowest BG between shots, which is about 5-7 hours after the shot.
What is Melo eating/ A low-carb canne food is best. Fancy Feast is fine and fed by many on the forum.
