New member, need advise, Several days ago I noticed/HEARD my cat sneezing. I guess that is what she was doing. I have never heard that before so have no idea what gives with her. It is getting more frequent and lengthy (5 or 6 in a row). This seems to come and go as I may not hear this for several hours and then a string of sneezes and back to normal behavior. An ideas? Is this something I need to worry about? Could this be connected to my use of body powder (heat rash)? I have used the powder before and no sneezing then.
Advise please

On occasion, my cat Jackson would sneeze over and over and over and over, poor guy, and I would give him L-lysine and it would stop his sneezing right away. I don't know if what your cat has is the same as what Jackson has.

Strange occurrence. My name is Jackson, at least part of it. "Dawg", my cat, is good company even if she only has 3 legs..:) She sleeps between my legs when the weather is cool. I will try and figure out how to post a pic.

I'd keep track of this behaviour over the next few days - when it happens, how severe, etc. See if you can connect it to other things going on. Cats can have allergies and the herpes virus can show up in some as upper respiratory symptoms.

Cats get viral infections and could sneeze like we do when we have a cold. It can be mild so a bit of sneezing and feeling not too energetic and should pass in about a week. If your kitty is more seriously affected by a virus then you would notice that he is not very well and sometimes it needs to brought to the vet's attention. So just watch him and let us know if you notice more symptoms.
My Rocky had a "cold" sometime ago and was off colour for about 2 weeks sneezing a lot. Slept in my bed keeping warm and I gave him chicken soup which helped his recovery. If virus is suspected the L-lysine is very helpful.
Better not to use body powder - it is poison (for you and your kitty).

The L-lysine should help with herpes flares or mild viruses. If there is discharge from the eyes or other symptoms, take him in cause there are more severe upper respiratory infections cats are prone to. Also, if you notice any other strange "tics" such as the fur on the back rolling, tail flicking, biting the air, hissing or growling at nothing, suddenly running like they are frightened, there is a condition called feline hyperestesia that can cause all these things. The sneezing "tic" can sometimes happen. Fleas make it much worse or can be the initial trigger.

Thanks to U all. I greatly appreciate the help. "Dawg" (my cat) has been sleeping now for about 6 hours. It seems to come and go. She sleeps in my bed on top of my sleeping bag between my legs. I sleep on or in a sleeping bag all year long. I am a blanket KICKER and got tired of waking up in the middle of the night cold so the bag works best for me :<)
