Stoney - AMPS +6 128

Stoney’s Libre went out 4 days early last night, so we’ve been manually taking his BG. Decided that during prime day I’d get him some freeze dried treats. His siblings are not very happy that they aren’t getting any! I told them they don’t get poked like bubba does, multiple times a day! Back to the vet this evening to get a new Libre. It may not be as accurate but boy does it give me some peace of mind when we are not home!

You got a 128 today with your handheld meter! 🙂🙂 That means we should hd this 1.75 unit dose for at least 4 more days and see how it goes. I hope we will see things smooth out. I see ketones were 1.4 so that’s okay.

He is eating the original DM food instead of the Savory Selects? I ask because the original is 4.51 percent carbs while the Savory Selects is not low carb but is medium carb at 11.59%

He is on currently on half a can of Purina DM, and 1/4 of a can of FF Classic Pates 2x a day! I do give him about 1/4 of a can of FF pate when it comes time for a snack. We are trying to get him to like the DM food more, and I think it’s working. I also add some warm water to it for more hydration he is really liking that!

He’s adorable. And you have a Siamese? Me too, but mine are a handful.
Yes! We have 3 cats! Our Siamese is a punk! We found him at a gas station off of the highway on our way home from family Thanksgiving back in 2022. Poor guy had fleas crawling all over his face. We couldn’t let him stay there! Sometimes I wish we did…. ;) (not really, we love him, but he is our problem child.)

We will hold for a bit longer! I was upset when I saw 1.4 on the ketone reading but I know it could be worse!

Poor guy was a stray. We asked the cashier if it was anyone’s cat and he said no, that we were free to take him. He came right up to us! We didn’t see any others around, so I’m not sure how far from home he really was! Fostering was never an option, we just decided we had another cat 😂
Your kitties are beautiful 😻

If you’re having your vet install a new Libre, ask them NOT to use any glue.
The glue can kill the sensor (so what’s the point!)

Have you read the below information about using a Libre yet?
It’s very easy to install them yourself (I do it all the time)
😍
Plus you save a trip to the vet and save $$

Well, HE killed the new sensor! Got home and he had punctured not one, but two holes in it! So I just spent the last 40 minutes taking it off with coconut oil. They also used so much glue, it was crazy! I guess we will need to install ourselves next time. Ugh!!!! Doesn’t he look so not guilty 😒

Also thank you!!! They are my pride and joy!

Oh boy! He looks very proud of himself (naughty kitty).

I have no idea why they use glue. It can really destroy their skin (as well as the sensor).
They just don’t seem to understand. (And they all seem to do it) 🤬🤯

Ivy’s sensor failed today and I had to replace it unexpectedly. So it’s always good to have several extras on hand (if you can afford to do that).
You just never know what can happen (someone could Bite holes in their Libre) 😬

Do you keep a tee shirt or top on him to cover the Libre?
(I have to or Ivy will remove the sensor).

That’s how I ended up with my three legged baby. She was just out and about around the dumpster where I worked kind of jumped right in my car and Purred my lap the whole way home so happy to be a lap kitty.

Yes, he has two shirts that we bought the day he got his first Libre, but one of them is way too big, and on both of them his little arms get stuck inside! So we are on the hunt for some without sleeves. I bought some on Amazon a few days ago but they are way too small, and they are a large! He is a big boy!

Maybe you could cut off the sleeves?
I use a “tube top” for Ivy because she hated her arms and chest closed in under a tee shirt (so I made my own). Or I used a wide headband. (Several options are discussed in the document we created about using Libres on this site).
