Stomatitis information?

Jude went for a dental today, and was diagnosed with a "pretty serious case of stomatitis." So now I've got my nose in the literature to educate myself. This diagnosis can't be that uncommon in a feline diabetes forum. What can you good folks tell me about your own experiences?

There is also this online forum, I belong there as well. There are a lot of discussions on stomatitis, as I had a kitty with a mild case.
TheCatSite
Another great community of cat folks there who offer their experience and help along with veterinary guidance.

There is a groups.io group on feline stomatitis. What did the vet say are the next steps?
The vet who performed the dental is not the vet who sees Jude regularly. I went to this vet for Jude's dental because he was closer and cheaper (he is one that we used to see--but Jude's regular vet diagnosed his diabetes, and he is the one we normally see). That said, after posting this, I spoke to Jude's regular vet (bc Jude has developed an infection after the dental), and he was reluctant to say Jude has a serious case of stomatitis because he had just examined him a couple of weeks ago and saw "mild stomatitis." He did comment that stomatitis can flare up quickly, though. I'm taking Jude to see him tomorrow, so we'll see what he says.

I tried the io group but saw nothing on feline stomatitis 🤷‍♀️

Edited to add: I went to The Cat Site mentioned above, and it has tons of information.

Hi Mary & Jude, just in case it's helpful, one of my cats had to have all his teeth extracted. The vet assured me that he could live a perfectly normal life, and, if anything, he's now the happiest I've seen him in his 15 years. Every cat is different, but wanted to mention this in case it helps. Hoping for the best outcome for you both!
