Still in remission; Question about hepatic lipidosis - What is a good cat food?

See the attached picture of Tabitha. I can't believe it's been a year since she went into remission. (Knock on Wood) We couldn't have done it without the help of this group. It was a crazy roller coaster ride. At the time she was just a foster but she and I have been through too much to put her back in the same situation that probably brought her illness and the need for insulin.

I have come across people with cats that have hepatic lipidosis. The only thing I know about it is that diabetic cats can get it. What is a good food for them to be on once they are eating on their own again?

Tabitha is beautiful! I havent dealt with hepatic lipidosis in a diabetic kitty, sorry. One of my civvies had it some years ago and she went back to her old diet after she started eating on her own normally. Hope someone can give you some better info :)
 
What a pretty picture of Tabitha! I've only dealt personally with hepatic lipidosis in a foster kitty, but we have other kitties here who have been through it. They pretty much eventually went back to what they were eating before. The foster I had did not like chicken for the longest time, as that was what he was assist fed until he ate on his own. But after a few months he was OK with chicken again.
 
All cats can get hepatic lipidosis if they don't eat, it just happens with diabetics more because things like pancreatitis cause them to not want to eat more often. The cat is burning it's body stores instead of having food creating the HL...I'm not sure what food is best, the kitty needs to eat something. I like Royal Canin's 'Recovery'...
