Still high numbers

Back from the vet again to get her checked still high at 450,been giving her pates friskies and very small amount of dry food scince diet just to make sure she doesnt go hungry and about 2.25-2.50 units twice daily,vet wanst to keep her for the day and do a curve,give her insulin in am and do 6 test stips threw out the day and ill pick her up after work,is this a normal routine for the vet to check that many times?
 
A glucose curve is serial testing every 2 hours, from pre-shot to pre-shot.
Tests at the vet may run 100-180 mg/dL higher than at home, generating inflated dose increases.
If you're up for it, testing at home will have more valid results ... and save you some money.

Well I thought about home testing,and im going to call a mobile vet to come by and take her blood and or reading with a strip ONCE and see if that chanages,i know my cat more than anyone and she freaks out at the vet,maybe causing higher numbers??
 
The little bit of dry kibble could also be causing her BG levels to stay high. Yes, even a few pieces can make a difference and some cats are more carb sensitive than others.

You might want to try stopping the dry kibble for at least a week. She won't go hungry, no matter how much she is begging for food, she is not starving, she's just being a cat.;)

Ok that could be it,but I only leave that out in fear im not home all day and she has something to nibble on even tho i give her half a 5.5 oz of food before shot in am,only reason i leave it out. not sure if she would eat more than the half of 5.5 oz and i think that is just enough for her to get shot??
 
Lots of people leave the wet food out all day for their cats to eat. If you add a little bit of water, think applesauce consistency, that helps to prevent the wet food from drying out too much. The wet won't go bad in 12 hours.

Im going to get her off dry food this weekend,bought a durapet bowl so she doesnt lick it on the floor,question now is,i give her 2.75 oz twice a day wet food,so now without dry food should i give her 5.5 oz twice a day??
 
When Wink was still unregulated, he was eating close to 10-12 ounces of food a day. He's down to about 6 ounces a day now and maintaining his weight.

Since our kitties can't process the food properly without the right amount of insulin, they are hungrier and often need to eat more.

Is she underweight, overweight or just right?

You are home testing I hope before you do this food change? A food change to low carb wet can drop a cats BG levels 100 points or more. Be very careful.
 
14.0 lbs,she is eating wet food now,im just eliminating dry food. Called dr to ask if i should go back to precribed dosage,she will call tomorrow.
 
Eliminating the dry food completely from your cats' diet can dramatically drop the BG levels.

Please help keep your kitty safe and home test.
 
As to your food servings is one can of 5.5oz twice a day ok or is that to much,numbers still high been visiting vet and checking numbers often,so no home testing

I agree. The Science diet is way too high in carbs.
