Can't believe how hard it has been to find a syringe with 1/2 unit markings. My vet ordered me a box and they were wrong. A local pharmacy ordered me a box and it was wrong. I called at least 5 other pharmacies and nowhere in Lakeland can I find one. Anyway, what I'm currently using is this:

Ulticare U-100 3/10 cc 29 gauge x 1/2" (.33mm x 12.7mm)

Here is one I found on diabetes wholesale.com

BD U-100 Insulin Syringes 31g 8mm 3/10cc 1/2 unit markings

I don't understand what the "31g 8mm" means. Is this an acceptable syringe??

The g refers to gauge. The higher the number, the thinner the needle.

I believe the U40 syringes I was using were 28g, and the U100 ones were 31. My cat didn't flinch at all with either of the needles. I was giving insulin through the scruff, and both sides of his abdomen.

The 8mm refers to the length of the needle. I've only used 1/2inch for my cat, so I can't comment on 8mm. I think that commonly subcutaneous needles for humans and veterinary use is 1/2inch. I believe with the right technique, 8mm vs. 1/2 inch would be trivial.

I picked mine up from elimedical.com. However I'm local to them so I can just pick it up. This is the item code for what I bought from them. 03V3113B

It is 0.3cc, 31g, 1/2inch, box of 100. It cost me 25$ CAD. I'm not sure how much you're spending for a box of 100, but if it costs less for me to get a box and ship it to you let me know. I'm not sure how much a box would cost to send though. I'll try to get an estimate from Canada Post and get back to you.

I don't have the exact weight of the parcel, but it's about 10$ shipping, 4-10 business days from here. They are only open 9-5 though, so I need a little bit advanced notification if you'd like that done.

However, try giving them a call. Here's the website http://www.elimedical.com.

They may offer it for about the same price or maybe even less!

Good luck finding the right syringe!

Thanks April - I'll try to give them a call tomorrow. I can't believe I'm having such a problem finding them local here!

Walmart near you? They carry the ReliOn which I've always used. I use the 1/2" needle. 29 guage, 3/10 cc with 1/2 unit markings. You used to have to ask for the 1/2 units ones but they all come now marked that way.......at least in the 3/10 syringes.
