Hello. I'm new, and very glad I found such a wonderful and knowledgeable site. My Buddy was diagnosed with FD two weeks ago. He is on 2 units of lantus ×2 a day. He seems to be doing ok so for. I'm in the learning process of navigating this site.

Welcome! You’ve come to the right place. Lantus is a great insulin so you’re off to a good start. Hometesting and diet are the other two main things that will help you get Buddy regulated. We can help you with those and any questions you may have, so feel free to ask.

Welcome Steve and Buddy! I found this site just a month ago and have received so much support and knowledge sharing. Jack the Cat was prescribed Lantus. I echo Sharon about home testing and diet. It was so frightening to me to poke Jack's ears, but am so happy I started as it gave me insight into where his numbers are without stressful trips to the vet. Several knowledgeable folks guided me through the process and educated me on what was happening with his numbers.

Jack is so used to it now because he knows he will get fed after we find out what his number is. When I joined this forum, I was still feeding a bit of dry food, but now have completely switched over to wet.

Reading the "stickys" will give you a lot of information. I had to read some of them a couple times just to get all the information to sink in. So by finding this forum, you are in good hands in treating Buddy. Good Luck.

That you Sharon 14 & Jack the cat for the warm welcome, and great advice. As soon as he was diagnosed, I changed his diet to all wet. ( plus high protein treats). Been doing ALOT of Research the last couple weeks. This is my first journey down this path of diabetes. Much to learn.
