I can't thank everyone enough for all their kind words about our new acro calendar.

It's been a LONG road for many acro moms/dads. For those of you who haven't had an acro cat - 2004 was the earliest record I could find of anyone on the FDMB of an acrocat. That was Dale and Snuggles. Then there was Diana and Orion followed by Teresa and Olivia, Tara and Martin, and Andreana and Jen. Many of us are still in touch as so little was known about this disease that we relied on each other to figure out how to care for our cats.

Then in 2006 it seemed there were more of us several of us became diagnosed within a year and we started fighting harder to have this recognized more. NOW we have learned as there are more studies out there - that 30% of all diabetic kitties have this pituitary tumor which causes acromegaly.

I thought I would share some of Wendi and Milo's and Heather and Boo's pictures frome when they went for SRS therapy. Both of these kitties have acromegaly. Heather's Boo went off insulin after 12 weeks. Wendi's Milo after 1 year.

Please see their pics below.

This has been the most promising treatment for our acro kitties to date. However, the cost of this remains very high and it's difficult for many acro parents to afford this. Also the only place for this treatment currently is at Colorado State University.

you can learn more about all of this - and see their special pictures in our catacro calendar:

Our goal is to help educate as many vets out there as possible about acromegaly. Most still believe the cats have to have the classic signs of enlarged head, feet, and jaw. We have found that those are LATE signs and there are so many other subtle signs noted earlier. Proceeds will go to the catacro board - a sister board to FDMB and run by our own REbecca who runs FDMB.

And of course again - many many thanks to those of you who have ordered so many already
