Starting treatment before symptoms appear

Huck is already on insulin shots based on his 2 blood lab tests, and one urine analysis. He didn't have any behavioral traits at all. Now, you can actually see a change in thirst and not totally himself. Friends say I should stop everything and just wait to regular visible signs appear. Maybe he doesn't even have diabetes.

You've all been so great so far and I'm anxious to see your opinions.

If you stop everything and he is high blood sugar he could develop the very serious life threatening diabetic ketoacidosis condition! . It is also difficult and expensive to treat - you are looking at 5 days at the vet. Plus if you wait for symptoms then damage is occuring.

Best to get on top of it early and see if you can get him into remission - 84% cats can go into remission if you treat them right and catch them early - we can advise on the three things you need to do if remission is your goal.

However we can confirm if he is diabetic or not. Go to your pharmacy and pick up urine test strips called keto-diastix. Then test his pee. If you see sugar he is diabetic and needs insulin. (tips:https://docs.google.com/document/d/1quta5WLEjdO0Y_t2dAYSwN84h-LNZWxOdtVsJDKZ16A/pub)
