Starting insulin / again. Help

I need to know how much food my kitty needs to eat prior to 1 unit of Lantus. This will be her first dose in 7 months. Memory is cloudy.

Lantus doesn't kick in for a couple hours usually so food doesn't have to already be on board as long as she's showing interest in food in general.
