Since Coconut left us for the bridge on Saturday I really need to focus on his sister Chocolate's health. She's always been anti-social and prefers to be alone so we had her in her own room in the basement (it has an above ground window) but I always felt guilty about it even though she prefers it. Since the addition my other two cats Danny and Carlos 4 and 5 years ago she has wanted to be alone because they always bother her (no respect for their elders...jerks.) Anywho I've moved her up to the upstairs with me because having her around helps with Coconut no longer here since she's his blood and since I don't want her being alone all the time. She hasn't been crying to get out but I think once she gets used to it she'll like it much better up here with me. (I keep the door at the top of the stairs closed so the jerks can't come around.) Now Chocolate has been on Humulin N since she was first diagnosed 2 years ago and we've never had any hypos with her like we did three times with Coconut. Shes still free fed prescrip w/d
and I'm still feeding her half of a 5.5 oz can of Soulistic twice a day although she has no problems eating any kind of Fancy Feast that I've tried with her. I want to start testing her and go through all that but part of me is SO scared because although Coconut must have had lymphoma for a while without us knowing, it seems that after his last hypo which afterwards I tried changing everything and testing him all the time, that's when the seemingly downward spiral began..and rapidly. I'm scared of that. Also, Chocolate won't be as easy to test because while she loves a good petting shes not exactly a people person. I almost feel like its better to leave it the way it is but part of me knows maybe thats not the right solution either. If I were to get her off the dry w/d do you think it would be fine to just free feed dry EVO? She's an older cat and I don't want to make serious changes to her. I guess I would also have to start testing to figure out her bg levels in order to make any serious change in her diet even if its just changing the dry food right? I'm so confused and I don't know what I should do. :?:
