Stage 2 CKD and diabetes food recommendations

Hi everyone, Sarah and Milo here! I’m back with a new question for my cat Milo. He has been OTJ since 9/22 - diet controlled with FF low carb pates. A vet changed his diet last year due to early CKD diagnosis. Put him on a KD prescription dry food guaranteeing his diabetes would be fine…Took me another 6 months to get him back in remission (can’t believe it!). Two months ago test results showed stage 1 CKD. Today we got test results back that he is in stage 2 CKD. Sugars are still good with monthly checks.

Would love to know if there is a diet recommendation for diabetes and CKD?

Yes, there is a list of foods that work for both diabetes and CKD. There is a diabetes list here: CKD food Chart. These food lists are maintained by a CKD group. Good luck finding something he likes to eat and will keep him OTJ. The Fancy Feast are rather higher in phosphorus than a CKD kitty should eat.

Echoing that chart Wendy linked. My guy is similar and there are a bunch or Weruva options low carb and lower phos.
