Sissy's Mom

Member Since 2021
Would someone look at Sissy's numbers and let me know if I am headed in the right direction. I've been giving .5 AM and PM for several days - except for the PM where she was 151 at PM shot time - I waited an hr, but the BG was still too low to give her a shot.

My take away is that she seems to be peaking the lowest a little too late - 9 or 10 hrs.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hmmm.... I think she's doing a little bouncing, and then coming down from the bounces, so that makes it hard to say for sure where her nadir is. Not that you don't have a ton of data from the Libre! But she just may need some more time to really get a handle on her patterns. She does seem to be on the right track, though, hitting those blue numbers pretty regularly! The more time she spends in low blues and (eventually) greens, the more chance for her pancreas to do a little healing, and (hopefully) the more used to those numbers her body will get (less bouncing!).

The "cycle count" starts over with a skipped shot, so you're on cycle 5 (or 6 if you've shot tonight already), so you'll have to hold the dose a bit longer to let things settle. Under SLGS, the dips under 150 (but over 90) would mean that you would hold this dose anyway, although my guess is that you'll eventually find that she'll do well with a touch more insulin than 0.5U.

Can I ask, is there a reason you aren't doing TR? You certainly are getting enough test data to do it safely!

I was thinking the bouncing might be the reason but I'm so new to this it's difficult for me to trust myself. I didn't consider the tight regulation because I don't want her to have a hypo. She's had three already and it's so tough for her to recover. With her shot schedule being 10 am to 10 pm it's tough for me to watch her overnight - although I've had plenty of sleepless nights lately. Plus, I just want to get her to where I recognize she feels good - that's my primary goal. So far that seems to be 150 to 300 or so. Under 150 she seems lethargic, no energy - not sure if it's because she hasn't been there in a while?? I am so happy I found FDMB. It helps with the frustration level. Thanks for responding. Truly appreciate another look.

OK, obviously I don't know what I'm talking about in my first reply - I re-read the TR vs SLGS and understand better now. I'm thinking tomorrow AM I might increase her dose a smidge depending on overnight numbers. I do think she's happiest at 250 and under. Will see what happens. Thanks again.
