Sister diagnosed with FD 6 weeks ago. BG down to about 200, but we're still working on it with vet. Lost weight early on but has regained it. She acts pretty normal now. She tends to squint an eye, one or the other about twice a day. There's no leaking or wetness and the vet has checked the eyes... said that her eyes looked great. But she continues to squint and sometimes wipes her face with paw. My question is... do you think the squinting is connected in any way to the diabetes?

My Jez did the same thing for the first few weeks after her diagnosis - often enough so that the vet noticed it but like yours they couldn't find anything wrong. Sometimes one eye would seem a bit squinty and sometimes she would actually wink. It was random and very troubling to me It went away after about a month - at that point she was reasonably well regulated. The only neuropathy symptom she had was some difficulty jumping - but that too corrected itself after a few weeks - I didn't use any supplements - just her insulin (Lantus).
