Squeak has thrown up the last 3 days...

He's been on PZI insulin for a week today. I'm 'supposed' to take him back to the vet Sat. for a BG check but with him being so wild, I don't know what will transpire. Anyway, He's thrown up the last 3 nights. Last nite and 3 nights ago, it was mostly hairball. Night before last, just foamy. I haven't been brushing him as I normally do, with all the diabetic thing going on. Should I be worried about something else? And, he's NOT drinking lots of water but he IS peeing the bricks. This has gone on for a very long time - the urine thing. Thanks to all!
 
Do you add water to the food?
If so, that could explain the peeing or could he be getting water from elsewhere - toilet??

1 of my civies threw up due to the meds he was on and I tried Pepcid A/C (not the complete one, just regular pepcid) 1/4 of a 10mg in the evening and that helped.
I also raised his food dishes to above stomach height - just put them on a low, upturned box.

Are you home testing? and if so, what are his numbers like?
 
Yes, I always ADD one can of water per can of FF Classics. He gets one for breakfast and one (one and a half because he's such a good boy) for dinner. So he's getting plenty of fluids. I'm NOT hometesting. I've tried and got NO blood from his ears. Now when he sees Mom drag out the equipment, he's gone - under the bed, upstairs.... But I'm going to keep trying. I did try several times with the warm rice sock and got NO blood - now he's on the run.

Am supposed to take back Sat. for his 1-week check up on PZI but don't want to waste my money. I'm going to call the vet and see if she'll show me to test so I can continue to get my needles. May have to change vets. She is NOT FD savy.

- urine ketone testing - may indicate he's running too high and in danger of diabetic ketoacidosis
- urine glucose testing - if the glucose level exceeds the renal threshod, it will dump into the urine

etc.

Also, you may want to start some behavior modification, with the idea of gradually getting him ready to allow blood glucose testing.
Step 1: teach him to come for low carb treats by saying "treats" and then giving him one (ex boiled chicken bits)
Do this in a number of different areas, not only the testing spot.

Once he will reliably come for "treats", we'll add a new step. Just let us know.
 
Has he been having bowel movements? Sometimes when they are constipated they throw up. But it really could be anything.
Are you interested in asking for help from another board member who may live close by to help you home test?
Just suggestions. I hope you get some blood soon and he quits throwing up.
 
Many good points brought up. Maybe someone who lives close by could help you home test. Cats may vomit occasionally but a few days in a row I would be worried. Are there any vets that do home visits where you live. It may be less stressful for Squeak.
 
I contacted Bookworm (Lisa) She lives about an hour away but is willing to help. Unfortunately she just left on a business trip and won't be back till next week. Maybe she will contact you by Private message.
