We are struggling with cat’s BGR being all over the place. The vet isn’t concerned but I was hoping someone could take a look and help calm down my nerves.

We are due to go on vacation shortly and due to the numbers would be bringing him on an 14-18 hour car trip (I’m most nervous about this and his stress levels at 16yo).

You will get more eyes on this post in the Feline Health Forum - this one is more for tech issues so not a lot of people check it

I will tag @Wendy&Neko and maybe she can move it over there for you :cat:

First thing I would suggest is getting some mid cycle tests. We determine how to change the dose based on how that dose takes the cat. The preshot tests primarily tell you if it is safe to give insulin. Could you do a curve soon?

I took Neko on road trips, sometime her numbers dropped on the road. I sprayed her carrier with Feliway spray and gave her Rescue Remedy for Pets before hand to calm her for the road. Otherwise she hated car trips.

Yes, I can mid day tests. I’ll start that today. I haven’t heard of the rescue remedy for pets but I’ll order that today as well. We have the spray already. Thank you so much for your help! I appreciate it so much!

I wouldn't test that frequently over 100, maybe in an hour if you are curious. If you want to give him a tsp or two of his regular low carb food and he's asking for it, that would be fine.

Thank you everyone! We ended up giving a 0.5 unit this morning and he was 120, 6 hours later. I have him a tbsp of his usual food (low carb).
