None of the cats were happy as I picked up all the food last night around 10 pm.

Rolled out of bed @ 7, threw on clothes, crated cats (civvie Farrall getting dental too, plus excision of 4 skin growths), drove to vet, and handed them off.

Haven't heard anything yet. Hoping it all goes smoothly and that the biopsies on the civvie come back benign, though 1 of them looked suspicious to me (multi-lobulated, multi-colored light & dark).

Spitzer lost 3 teeth, lower & upper right molar and right incisor. Maybe this will help with his diabetes control.

Civvie lost 2 teeth and had 4 skin growths removed; worst one will go to pathology.

I can pick them up near 6 pm.

Re: Spitzer having a dental today

How long does a dental take?
I see some yellow on his teeth (never brushed... ), and redness on his gum.
I this he need some works done although my vet didn't mention it...?

Re: Spitzer having a dental today

Aime,

I don't think the actual dental takes long. But, they do use anesthesia so basically they are at the vets for the day.

Check with your vet soon. February was Dental month for most Mass vets. Mine had a discount on dentals for the month and has extended it to March.

Good luck with the dental. You might find better BGs after a dental.

Re: Spitzer having a dental today

Thanks, Claudia, I did call my vet yesterday, I was told we have to get a exam /x-ray first, and depends on the condition, the teeth cleaning will cost starting from $500 to $1200. Does it sound right?

$500-$1200 may be a bit high but it depends upon what is included. Does it include the necessary bloodwork, x-rays, any special monitoring like blood pressure or EKG.

Cost for my 2 cats in Columbus, OH was $890 (ouch!)

Do check around, but remember the best estimate needs to include a competent vet team you trust.
