I thought I'd try leaving some frozen dinners out for the cats last night so that they could get a meal sometime around 3am without me having to get up. BUT its summer here in Sydney. I reckon Akbah got his stinky-chicken-popsicle down by about 1am.

I woke this morning to two hungry cats. I reckon Ak hadn't eaten for about 7 hours. I tested his BG and it was 109. That's up, normally these days he sits around 70. His numbers went down into the 70s when I changed his diet to 6 meals a day. So I decided to feed him up today, I gave him four meals over 12 hrs. His BG is back to 70.2.

I think of him as my little campfire: so long as I feed a stick in every now and again, he's steady as she goes. Looks like he needs a feed about every 4-5 hours.

How did he do on it? Do you think it affected his numbers? I'd be interested to know.
I'd have trouble doing this many feeds if it weren't for my father in law, who lives with us.
I make up all the day meals at breakfast. I stack them in a lunchbox in the fridge. At noon and 4, he takes out two bowls for me.
And at midnight, I'm in bed but my husband isn't, so he puts the midnight feed down.
Its the 4am feed that gets to me. I can do it at 6:30 but I'm saving up for two of those automatic feeders

This one, you can record your voice going "puss puss puss!" I think that's pretty funny.

It can hold four meals... but I think the shortest cycle it has is 8 hours.

He was only on wet then and raw, so he was a low dose kitty then, either 1 or 1½ U BID on Lantus. He was pretty stable in his numbers.

I always enjoy seeing a post from you because of his picture, with that lovely big, pink nose. Silly comment I suppose but he makes me grin every time.
