? Soreness from shot

A few times this week Petey has shuddered after getting his shot, tonight he fought me and kept pulling away for 15min. Had the needle in two or three time and he pulled away.

So I moved his feeding spot and got it done, he shuddered again.

Is he sore or am I hitting a bad spot? I do move it around his scruff, but there's not a lot to grab on him.

Any advice if he is sore?

Bad syringes? I always do a QC check before using a syringe. I've found syringes with zero line markings and those with completely bumpy needles

Try a new box of syringes to see if that helps any.

Are you inserting the needle bevel side up? That helps the needle glide through the skin. If you insert bevel side down, that kind of tears through the skin.

He was pretty cranky all day... I think he'd really like more personal space too.

Any chance you bought a box of syringes that have a wider gauge needle?

It was a bag from a box we've been using for over a month. He was better this morning...

He started off super cranky yesterday (few warning bites and scratches, which is rare), hopefully just an off day. But now that I am at 2u, I can go back to the smaller gauge -good idea!
