Snickers 5-30 - pmps 359 - he prefers the lancet device

I didn't realize it was so long since I posted. I kept putting it off because I was discouraged. Every day was kind of the same, high and flat. But it was finally long enough that we could increase, and today was a little better.

Or I should say, his numbers are a little better, and he's a lot better. He was just playing with my hand, and nipping at me. He's a very laid back dude, and that's very playful for him.

We're still having trouble getting blood. I tried the lancet pen, hoping it would somehow work better. Much to my surprise, Snickers likes it better. It seems to hurt less.

It's still hard to get blood, though. Last night I just couldn't get any. I fed him and he drank water. I tested an hour later and was able to get blood. I think he's still dehydrated.

My dad is also feeling better, much better. He's been out mowing the lawn and messing with the tomato plants.

Couldn't sleep last night and as I often do I surf New Posts looking for the unusual. I see you've zoomed past the boo-hoo/why me phase already which is a big bonus. Catchy names and profiles help too.
You'll know me when you see me. I'm the one in a kitty cat tee-shirt, carrying a kitty cat purse.

You and Snickers will do great here. Glad to hear your dad is feeling so much better.
This might help getting blood from Snickers if you haven't seen it yet. It does get easier.

Instead of a lancet I used a 25 gauge terumo needle. They are very sharp and worked well for me free hand. My vet taught me with needles as he prefers them and after trying them never used the lancers again.

Noah & me - Thanks for the diagram! And for the encouraging words.

I can't see the pic you posted, but the name says Hello Kitty. Who can say no to a kitty with a bow on her head? Someday I need to post a picture of my 2 kitty cat purses. One is subtle and the other is... not.

Tiff - I may have to try using needles. People have mentioned doing it, but since you gave the name I was able to look them up and see what they look like. Does your cat find it very painful? Do you get quite a bit of blood?
