July 4th was a nice, lazy day for her and she stayed in the yellow nice and pretty- actually 3 days of straight yellows with a blue thrown in :-D . At least until the idiots started the booming fireworks at dusk with a burn ban on. Somewhere at the outskirts of town someone set the grass on fire and it burned a house, shed, and barn before it was put out. Yes, multiple arrests were made but that is small condolence to those who lost their place to live  .

Then we get to last night. Partial fur shot and I could really tell it in her numbers overnight. Poor baby got into the red- barely there but still red that wasn't directly food related. High last night and this morning so hopefully her latest dose will settle her down again.

She is eating more so I've been keeping a diet diary for her to track when her pt is acting up and spinning out GH. She grunts when I pick her up but still enjoys cuddles with her rasping wheeze of a purr. I've started to NOT pick her up by her middle and to scoop under her front legs from the front and her side at the back to not put any pressure on tummy area just in case. If I retrain now I won't even have to think about it later :-D .

I've had to start doing the same as well. When they did the ultrasound, they said the kidneys, pancreas and intestines are enlarged. I imagine organs growing isn't a comfortable thing. And while he's having huge appetites, I feel like I'm just feeding the Acro monster inside him. Hopefully we'll see reversal from that. But I guess that means he gets to keep his jack-rabbit hind legs! ;-)

It must be twice as difficult with acromegally. So much to manager!

I felt like a scrooge asking our guests to go down to the beach to light off their fireworks, but with a dog in the closet and a cat under the bed howling.....I was OK with the title!

This is what I imagine all of our furr friends feel like during 4th of July.

That's a great picture! I'm sure there are many folks here experiencing that look. Jenn said Baxter has barely come out of his closet since the neighbor kid keeps shooting off fireworks. Ugh!!! So glad when everyone is over them!!!

I hate the idiots that let off noise makers in residential areas. In my neighborhood, its the school yard across the street in an "alcove" where the ell shape of the three story building allows for a reverberation... even with the windows closed and AC on it freaks out my cats.

That's a good idea for picking her up. I use that with Beau because of his chronic p-titis (knock wood, anti jinx he hasn't had any flares in a long time). And just remember that you are feeding them, not the acro monster. It's gonna "eat" anyway. You can't stop it so you have to provide food for the rest of the body.

I know and understand- she is still starving. I'm just glad she isn't eating as much as she used to and she doesn't mind it when I put her uneaten chicken in her plate when I get home and give her the shot. I've changed the timing on the feeder yet again. It turns every 3 hours now so she should have time to eat some of it before it turns. but how different is 3 hours to 2 hours I don't know.

I've noticed her back legs seem longer- she used to have a straight line when walking, shoulder to tail. Now her butt is elevated a little. I just thought "Oh, dear! Here comes the jack rabbit legs!" She looks uncomfortable eating like that- I wonder if I need to find something to elevate her plate.

But she turned over and presented her belly to me last night so she must be feeling better, and she tackled my toes the other night- another pre FD past-time she used to do. Not for long, but a quick nibble on the sock :-D .

And her AMPS was 205, 208 at +2

Oh, yeah, that's a good idea too - to elevate her plate. I did not know that their back legs grew longer with acro, but it makes sense.

My sister has (had) acro and at the age of about 48 she grew nearly two inches in height. It's so amazing that the docs could not (would not) diagnose her acro even with that increased height and skull changes. Oh, and the enlarged pituitary that showed up on MRIs? That was an anatomical anomaly. No ****. Idiots. Sorry, it just makes me so mad that it took 4-5 years to get the diagnosis.

Too bad she couldn't have gone to a vet and gotten her blood drawn and sent it in.

Far cheaper, too.

Wow - and I thought some of the vets we hear about here are resistant/reluctant!

Apparently it doesn't run in my family. My sisters and I, and our mom have all started to shrink... ugh! (mine's just shifting horizontally) :o but so far 1/2 inch.
